STORY

Set in the years following the Civil War, Song of the South follows young Johnny (Bobby Driscoll) as he visits his grandparents' plantation while struggling to understand his parents' separation. During his stay, he befriends the wise and beloved Uncle Remus (Academy Award winner James Baskett), whose timeless tales of Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear teach valuable lessons about courage, friendship, and perseverance.

As Johnny faces difficult challenges, Uncle Remus' stories help guide him through life's hardships and bring comfort during some of his most difficult moments.
